About Hope After Rape

Background Information

Hope After Rape (HAR) is a voluntary women's Non-governmental Organisation based in Uganda. Hope After Rape was formed in 1994 as a result of concern about the increasing number of sexual abuse of children and women as well as other forms of violence. At that time there were no psychosocial support services for the survivors of such abuses.

 

Vision

A world where people respect each other's sexual rights and all the other basic human rights.
 

History and past accomplishments

Hope After Rape was founded by a group of women primarily from a psychiatric, psychology,counselling, and teaching professions.It is a membership organisation and has evolved from purely voluntary in the area of counselling supported to funded program work as outlined.Members get involved in program areas depending on their areas of expertise.
